What is a Multi-Engine Rating & Time Building Program?
A Multi-Engine Rating allows you to act as pilot in command (PIC) of twin-engine aircraft, unlocking career pathways across charter, corporate, and airline aviation. Beyond initial certification, structured multi-engine time building is essential for competitive airline hiring minimums.

Multi-Engine Rating & Flight Training
Flying multi-engine aircraft elevates your piloting skills into complex systems, asymmetrical thrust management, and high-performance cross-country operations. Whether you are adding multi-engine privileges to your Commercial Pilot Certificate or logging hours in our Beechcraft Duchess, Sun City Aviation Academy provides the ideal training environment.
To begin your multi-engine training, you must hold at least a Private Pilot Certificate and a valid FAA medical certificate.
Ground training covers multi-engine aerodynamics, engine-out procedures, Vmc calculations, systems operation, and weight and balance.
Flight training focuses on emergency single-engine handling, stalls, steep turns, instrument approaches on one engine, and precision checkride maneuvers.
Most pilots complete their Multi-Engine Add-On rating in 10 to 15 flight hours before transitioning into dedicated multi-engine time building blocks.
With year-round flying weather in Pembroke Pines at North Perry Airport (KHWO), our students build cross-country multi-engine time efficiently without seasonal delays.
